Ian Holloway delighted to sign Leicester City’s DJ Campbell for Blackpool

Blackpool manager Ian Holloway believes signing striker DJ Campbell from Leicester City will be vital to his side's chances of staying in the Premier League this season.
The former City boss has been trying to sign the 28-year-old striker since the end of last season when Campbell ended his fruitful loan spell, having scored 11 goals in 18 games for the Seasiders as they won the play-offs.
However, there were times when it looked as though the two clubs could not strike a deal over Campbell and the striker began this season as a member of Paulo Sousa's squad.
But, a deal was agreed. It was believed to be worth a Blackpool record transfer fee of £1.25 million and was made last Tuesday, just before the transfer window shut.
Holloway said the capture of Campbell was a major signing for the club.
And he believes the move will be good for Campbell too.
"I've wanted DJ so badly," said Holloway.
"I think he suits us and he is absolutely vital for this football club and the energy at this football club."
He added: "Never is someone so well suited to come to a club as DJ is.
"I am delighted with the squad we have got together. We have eight internationals now, which Blackpool hasn't known for years.
"We couldn't have tried any harder, we couldn't have done any more.
"I've got to work with the people I have got now, and that is quite a relief."
Holloway added: "What I need to do now is work a back unit, get the midfield together with them and then have a play-around with the striking options, because I now have some."
Meanwhile, Leicester City's academy teams enjoying a high-scoring double over Ipswich Town at Belvoir Drive on Saturday.
The under-18s beat the Tractor Boys 4-1 while the under-16s won 5-2.
