Inside Cricket by Paul Jones: Jacques du Toit making big strides

By LCFC | September 9, 2010

"If Claude Henderson walks away with Leicestershire's player-of-the-year award it will be a fully-deserved reward.

"James Taylor and Matthew Hoggard could be in with a shout but the major challenger to Henderson has to be Jacques du Toit.

"In many ways du Toit is County's best-kept secret. He has been with the club since 2005 but did not really break through into the first team until 2008.

"Bearing that in mind, despite being 30, he remains a developing talent, having played just 26 first-class games to date.

When he gets it right, he is mightily effective, too, in all forms of the game.

"His timing is delightful off either front or back foot and he is arguably the cleanest striker of a ball at the club."
