Leicester City 4 Barnsley 1

Saturday, February 5th, 2011

Andy King continued his superb goalscoring form with a double as Leicester City maintained their unbeaten start to 2011 with a 4-1 victory over Barnsley at the Walkers Stadium.

Paul Gallagher put City ahead after 15 minutes with a superb strike from 25 yards out which found the top corner and King doubled City’s advantage with an exquisite chip in the 44th minute.

Barnsley reduced the arrears through Jacob Mellis in first half added time and the Tykes almost went into the interval level as Frank Nouble saw his effort cleared off the line by Kyle Naughton.

But King restored City’s two goal advantage in the 58th minute with a superb finish into the bottom corner from the edge of the box, his 13th goal of the season.

Kyle Naughton wrapped up the win in spectacular fashion with a stunning strike from 30 yards out, to make it a very happy birthday for manager Sven-Goran Eriksson.
